Readathon News: Spring Into Horror and #AYearaThon

I’ll discuss the readathons going on during the week and ow I feel about them. I will also list my TBR for the readathon or each readathon. If none are scheduled or I’m not hosting my own, this blog will be skipped for the week.

April 12th to the 18th

For the entire month of April, there is a Spring Into Horror readathon. I used to actively participate in these, but randomly stopped when I was feeling overwhelmed. I’m happy to be back.

We also have AYearaThon taking place during the duration of this week. They do a readathon for a week every month with a different theme each time. This month’s theme is adaptations. I’m very excited for this theme. I will be reading Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, four graphic novels for Locke & Key by Joe Hill, and (if time permits) The Passage by Justin Cronin.

April 5th to the 11th

So for the entire month of April, there is a Spring Into Horror readathon. I used to actively participate in these, but randomly stopped when I was feeling overwhelmed. I’m happy to be back.

We also have a Off The Gridathon taking place the 9th to the 11th. I’m very excited about that. We shut ourselves off social media and do nothing but read. I’ll obviously be working Friday and Saturday, but I will still be able to read and stay off the grid outside of work.

I’ve decided not to do a TBR pile for readathons unless they have challenges. I make a list every single month of books I want to read and I’ll just go off that. I actually need to start posting those on here. Might hold me more accountable to do them!

Readathon News: Vault-A-Thon

I’ll discuss the readathons going on during the week and ow I feel about them. I will also list my TBR for the readathon or each readathon. If none are scheduled or I’m not hosting my own, this blog will be skipped for the week.

There’s the month long BookTokAThon that I am participating in. You can find my TBR for that here.

This week there is a Vault-A-Thon going on from the 15th-21st. It looks like it will mainly be on Twitter. There wasn’t much information when I first discovered this. Now I see there’s a challenge list and there has been for awhile. I’ve got this.

March 8th-14th: AYearAThon with the theme of Standalones.

Entire month of March: BookTokAThon.

AYearAThon TBR:

BookTokAThon TBR:

Challenges:

  1. Read a book that BookTok has recommended you: Lore
  2. Read a book that you haven’t seen on BookTok: Complications of Pi (Reread)
  3. Read an Own Voices book: Wilder Girls
  4. Read a debut author’s debut novel: The Final Revival of Opal & Nev
  5. Read a book that has been on your TBR forever: Red, White, and Royal Blue

Note: I am aware that both TBR Piles are exactly the same. I was lucky to find books that fit both readathons fully. I believe in the motto: Work smarter not harder. The way I see it, I’ll either get my challenges for the month done this week or I will get a good chunk in. Either way is a win! Tell me if you’re participating in either of these. I’d love to see your progress!

This is all I managed to find so far. I haven’t decided if I want to check back in every month, take a break during the off times, or make my own. If you know of any that you think I might be interested in, please feel free to comment them! I’d love to know if any of you are participating in any of these as well! I’m excited!

2020 Reading Rush TBR!!!!

I’m not sure if any of you watch a lot of Booktube, but every year they do a ReadingRush. It used to be known as BookTubeAThon. The point behind it is to spend an entire week reading as much as you can. They have seven challenges to try to complete during the week. I’ve been participating for a few years now. I can’t remember what year I started. I love it.

The 2020 Challenges

I would love to see your TBR pile for the Reading Rush if you’re participating!!!!

Dewey’s Readathon Closing Survey

Books Finished:

Books Read:

Almost Finished:

Closing Survey:

How would you assess your reading overall?
I did fantastic! I got caught up on my reading. I finished three books! Almost finished four books! I’m so happy with that!
Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it?
I switched off every two hours. I listened to audiobook for two hours and I read for two hours. I did stray now and then when necessary. I also napped a bit. I was able to make it all work.
What was your favorite snack?
Nachos!
Wanna volunteer for our next event? Stay tuned for the recap post!
I would love to. Please reach out! I wish this readathon was once a month! Okay, maybe four times a year.

Thank you for Reading!

Dewey’s Readathon Mid Event Survey

Note: This is being posted near the end of the event. I have been avoiding my computer for most of the Readathon.

Books Finished So Far:

Mid-Event Survey:

  1. What are you reading right now?
The Sweeney Sisters and Righteous Assassin
  2. How many books have you read so far?
    3
  3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
I’m looking forward to starting The Sweeney Sisters the most.
  4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
Had some minor interuptions, but they are things I’m used to. My dog learned how to pause audiobooks he doesn’t like. I also fell asleep for a few hours. With the audiobooks, I just hit play again making eye contact with my dog. For the sleep. I woke up and went back to reading.
  5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
    How successful I’ve been!

Thank you for Reading!

Dewey’s Readathon Opening Survey

My TBR

Opening Survey:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

Lithia Springs, Georgia

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

I look most forward to making great progress in the Darkhaven series

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Tortilla chips and cheese dip!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

My name is Nicole. I’ve been an avid reader all my life. I started reviewing books in 2013. I’ve gone through a few blog names. None of them really fit me. In 2015, I developed the name Willow Star Serenity. It suited me. Willow Writes And Reads is my blog name now. I adore it. I’ve entertained changing it to The Introverted Readathoner, but I am rather fond of my current name.
I also hate talking about myself. It makes me feel very conceited.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

I’ll be sticking to my schedule as much as possible. The fact that I woke up with a very sore throat, congestion, and little to no voice will help this very much. I’m looking most forward to potentially making more friends and finding out if anybody is reading the same books as me.

Thank you for Reading!

Introducing The Introverted Readathoner

I did a thing! I created a group for very laid back readathons! I love readathons, but I always seem to miss them! I also have a very busy schedule and most of the ones I do become aware of aren’t in a time frame that works for me! That’s where the idea of this group came in. I figured it would be great to have a group where people like me can get together and set readathons on a whim. Those who can join are more than welcome. Everybody is welcome to the group and they are welcome to invite friends too! Events will be made to keep everything organized! I’m very excited about this group. You can join by clicking here.

I’m actually considering rebranding my blog to The Introverted Readathoner. I’m not completely sure yet. I’d love some feedback on this. This name has just stuck with me. I hope the group and the name stay around for awhile!

Also, I know I didn’t do a Book Haul this week. I just wasn’t up to it. It’s been a week. I won’t bore you with the details and excuses. I will say I’m glad it’s winding down! Please feel free to join the group! We are doing our first readathon in it this weekend! I’d love to have you all!
