Weekly Featured Book: Year of the Reaper

Year Of The Reaper by [Makiia Lucier]

I just started reading this yesterday. I discovered that both Owlcrate and Fairy Loot do readalongs every month. I will definitely be participating from here on. I knew I’d like this book. I just didn’t think it would consume me almost from the very beginning. I thought I would have a problem reading the daily six chapters a day with the number of books I juggle on a normal basis. I was very wrong. I fully recommend this book. I also recommend the Fairy Loot version of the cover. It’s gorgeous.

Weekly Featured Book: A Whole New World

A Whole New World: A Twisted Tale (Twisted Tale, A) by [Liz Braswell]

I’m buddy reading this and absolutely loving it. I’m supposed to have it done by the end of the day, but I’m a bit behind on it. I will definitely be done with it by the end of the week. I think the question on the cover is a little misleading though. He did FIND the lamp. He just gave it away. That’s the only real issue I have.

Weekly Featured Book: When You Get The Chance

When You Get the Chance: A Novel by [Emma Lord]

So this book officially releases today. I got an ARC from Netgalley. I don’t really connect with the main character as much as I want to. The story is pretty amazing. She’s such a stubborn person who goes after what she wants with a passion. It’s admirable. I really have enjoyed this story very much! I’m looking forward to reading it all the way through!

But I digress. I really am enjoying this book very much! I’m glad this book fell into my life!

Weekly Featured Book: Too Good To Be True

Too Good to Be True: A Novel by [Carola Lovering]

I knew I would enjoy this book going into it. I knew I would at least like it and be intrigued by it. I never would have thought that I would have gotten hooked from the very beginning. It’s impressively good. This is a domestic thriller. I don’t want to give too much away because I want many people to read it. Let’s just say a double life is involved somewhere!

Weekly Featured Book: White Stag

White Stag: A Permafrost Novel by [Kara Barbieri]

I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book at first. It was a little weird if I’m being honest. I stuck with it. I’m glad I did. It is a very unique story and I’m looking forward to reading the sequel. I will have an actual review for it out later this week. This is a spotlight. One well deserved. I fully recommend it. If you’ve read it, please contact me so we can talk about it.

Weekly Featured Book: The Giver

The Giver Movie Tie-In Edition (Giver Quartet Book 1) by [Lois Lowry]

This was one of my favorite books as a child. I never knew it was a quartet until a couple of years back. I finally jumped on a great deal of a box set of the books about a year ago, and I finally got around to reading The Giver again recently. I think I may even be ready to watch the movie that came out about five years ago. I’m still kind of nervous. I was so excited for The Golden Compass and was let down horribly. I have had trust issues with movie adaptations ever since. I know it’s silly. I’ll get over it one day. This book is definitely nostalgic for me.

Weekly Featured Book: Heartstopper

I absolutely have loved this! I have read volumes one and two. I have the third volume ready to leave. I think part of me is afraid to read it because I know that the fourth one won’t be available until January. I mean it’s not a big deal. I already have it pre-ordered. I also have plenty to read to keep me from obsessing. I never expected to get so obsessed with this story! I hope to find somebody I can fully talk about the books with!

I do know quite a few people who are in the anthology though and I’m so excited for it! The cover is just so gorgeous! It’s on Kindle Unlimited and is less than $5! trust me. It’s well worth it. the ladies that I know that are in it are so very talented! I’ll have a review up for it when I finished reading it. I will be reviewing each story separately in the review.

Weekly Featured Book: The Pull of the Stars

The Pull of the Stars: A Novel by [Emma Donoghue]

My mother and I read this book for our book club. We read The Wonder in the past for book club as well. I was a little nervous about this book. I was thinking it wouldn’t be my thing. I was wrong. It’s an incredibly beautiful story that I enjoyed very much. I will probably wind up reading it over and over again. The fact that it was historical but kind of relates to our current events is pretty amazing as well.
