As soon as the High Reaper said his name, I realized why Nevel had looked so alarmed. He had mentioned Gray’s name before, but friend was a bit of an overstatement. Because of me, neither of us had friends- at least, not in public. No one wanted to be associated with a Shinigami, but some reapers, like Gray, felt bad enough for Neven to help him on occasion.

I’m not sure if this is a spoiler. I’ll be starting the book here in a bit. It sounds pretty amazing. To be honest, it makes me excited to read it! Has anybody else read this?

It was too convenient. Too improbable. Perhaps…. perhapps I’d been drawn to this location, when hyperjumping into the nowhere? Because of him? Could that explain the coincidence?

Joan held her breath and listened. Nothing. Where was everyone? Was this some kind of nightmare? If not for the pain in her wrist and the warm blood oozing down her side, she might have believed that none of this was really happening.

Haven’t read the book yet. It’s on my list. It’s on my list to read really soon. It looks really good. I’m even more intrigued with this passage if I’m being honest. If I’m being honest, I like the Fairyloot cover the best.

Back in the 1970s in New York City, Black communities would throw block parties. They’d shut down their block, and a DJ- Short for “disc jockey”- would bring out a turntable and a box of records and play on the strett for everybody to dance. Given that this was the 1970s, most of what they played was funk and disco music.

I would have loved to have seen block parties like this. They sound like they were a lot of fun. I am also so inspired by the support they had for each other. There was no talk of competition. Everybody just lifted each other up. Something we can all aspire to.

She held out her hand for the card. Her mother snatched it from the footman’s fingers.

“Baron Vanderbean is here.” Mother breathed in wonder.

I got this book for Christmas. I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. I’ve been curious about the book for a long time. Kind of nervous about it as well. This kind of draws me in. I have many questions on the little I know about this small passage.

She didn’t trust him. At all. About anything. She didn’t know him. And what had he just admitted. He wished to take her and have her and use her as he wished. Then again, no news there. He and she both signed a contract permitting him to do just that.

Hoping this isn’t a spoiler. I haven’t read the book yet. I’m so in love with the cover. I am very intrigued on what the contract is about and the rest of the story around it. I also want to know why she doesn’t trust him. It’s very alluring! I can tell I’ll love this writing style!

His confidence was unnerving but I thought I saw Phelan roll his eyes, as if annoyed with his brother’s theatrics. I watched the quiet brother closely, limned in starlight, seeking a week point in his spirit.

I haven’t started this book yet. I don’t think this is a spoiler. It does intrigue me fully. I can’t wait to dive into the book. Owlcrate is doing a readalong. It started on the 19th. I’m behind. I’m always behind though. It’s like the story of my life at this point. I’ve been excited to read this book. I got a Netgalley audio copy of it awhile back. Honestly, I didn’t care for the way they do audio.

I was the only person in our family who knew Jude’s secret. The whole world assumed he was straight, and becuase of the country music industry, I understood why he had to remain so deeply closeted. There was no doubt how much the deception bothered him, and I knew he’d do about anything to come clean at least to our family.

This is a book I got for Christmas. I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. It seems like there will be parts that provoke deep thoughts. At least this passage. I more than understand this struggle. I’d tell my story, but I feel like it would take away from the quote. I am looking forward to reading this!

Revisiting the memory, I tilted my head. It had been years since she left the world and after a grieving period, I let any thought of her go and only rarely summoned her memories. But lately, I needed her advice more.

Full disclosure, I haven’t read this book yet. To be fair, I haven’t had it for very long. This is a very beautiful passage though. If it’s a spoiler, I’m spoiling myself in the mix. I’m still drawn to read the book. Especially if all of it is going to be as elegant and alluring as this passage!

Nosy venders from the marketplace came to our restaurantat at our tables, hoping for news, but my family was too practiced with secret-keeping to give anything away.

I haven’t read this book. Naturally have many questions now. To start with, what are they keeping secrets about? Do we find out? Will it be drawn out? Is it dark? is it fluffy? I guess all of these will be answered when I get to reading the book!
