Weekly Featured Book: White Stag

White Stag: A Permafrost Novel by [Kara Barbieri]

I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book at first. It was a little weird if I’m being honest. I stuck with it. I’m glad I did. It is a very unique story and I’m looking forward to reading the sequel. I will have an actual review for it out later this week. This is a spotlight. One well deserved. I fully recommend it. If you’ve read it, please contact me so we can talk about it.

Weekly Featured Book: The Giver

The Giver Movie Tie-In Edition (Giver Quartet Book 1) by [Lois Lowry]

This was one of my favorite books as a child. I never knew it was a quartet until a couple of years back. I finally jumped on a great deal of a box set of the books about a year ago, and I finally got around to reading The Giver again recently. I think I may even be ready to watch the movie that came out about five years ago. I’m still kind of nervous. I was so excited for The Golden Compass and was let down horribly. I have had trust issues with movie adaptations ever since. I know it’s silly. I’ll get over it one day. This book is definitely nostalgic for me.

Weekly Featured Book: Heartstopper

I absolutely have loved this! I have read volumes one and two. I have the third volume ready to leave. I think part of me is afraid to read it because I know that the fourth one won’t be available until January. I mean it’s not a big deal. I already have it pre-ordered. I also have plenty to read to keep me from obsessing. I never expected to get so obsessed with this story! I hope to find somebody I can fully talk about the books with!

This anthology was released on Halloween. I’ve had it on my pre-order list since August. I’ve been excited about it for just as long! I won’t lie. I haven’t read it yet. I do know quite a few people who are in the anthology though and I’m so excited for it! The cover is just so gorgeous! It’s on Kindle Unlimited and is less than $5! trust me. It’s well worth it. the ladies that I know that are in it are so very talented! I’ll have a review up for it when I finished reading it. I will be reviewing each story separately in the review.

Weekly Featured Book: The Pull of the Stars

The Pull of the Stars: A Novel by [Emma Donoghue]

My mother and I read this book for our book club. We read The Wonder in the past for book club as well. I was a little nervous about this book. I was thinking it wouldn’t be my thing. I was wrong. It’s an incredibly beautiful story that I enjoyed very much. I will probably wind up reading it over and over again. The fact that it was historical but kind of relates to our current events is pretty amazing as well.

Weekly Featured Book: Survive The Night

Survive the Night: A Novel by [Riley Sager]

I was going to use this for a challenge for the Hocus Pocus Readathon. I was to be dressed up while reading it. I was really hot and uncomfortable in the costume. So I decided to replace it with something else and call it a day. I still want to read the book. It’s been very good so far. It has a bit of a slow start. I won’t lie. And it’s a bit dry compared to the rest of Sager’s books. Either way, it’s really good. Has anybody else read it?

Weekly Featured Book: The Lost Apothecary

The Lost Apothecary: A Novel by [Sarah Penner]

I started reading this book Sunday night. I’m using it for two challenges for the Hocus Pocus readathon. Read with candlelight and only at night. I was absorbed into the book from the very beginning. I read a hundred pages on the first night! And I seriously debated just staying up to read the last two hundred pages. It’s definitely a thrilling book.

Weekly Featured Book: The Omen Machine

The Omen Machine: Sword of Truth - A Richard and Kahlan Novel by [Terry Goodkind]

I recently just finished this book. This entire series has stolen a good portion of my life for the better part of this past year. Just when you think things are finally going to start calming down, something major happens. You’re left on the edge of your seat through the ride. There are some parts that are a little hard to swallow, but for the most part it’s an amazing book in an amazing series.
