Book of the Week: These Impossible Things

https://amzn.to/48JeewM

I really enjoyed this book very much. I also feel like I learned a lot about a culture that I haven’t had a lot of experience with in my life. I always love learning about different cultures and religions. I feel like when we know more, we aren’t tricked as much. But I digress.

This book was funny and also very serious. I would love to have many people to talk about this book with!

Book of the Week: Witchlings

I really didn’t think I’d wind up enjoying this book when I first read it. It wasn’t a horrible book, but it wasn’t exactly great either. The main character was just a bit much. I get that she’s a kid. I just didn’t care for her attitude in the beginning. She and other characters in the book really grew on me. Especially Valley. I’ll leave it at that. It’s a middle grade book, but it’s a very enjoyable read for all ages. I also love the cover so much!

Book of the Week: It’s Always the Husband

https://amzn.to/456AMET

This is not the first book I’ve read by this author. It’s not the first book in the series I’ve read either. I was sucked in from the very first page! I metaphorically had a board with clues and strings connecting the clues the whole time. I really loved this book and I’m glad that I had the chance to read it!!!

This is the fourth book in a series. They can be read as standalone books. I still need to read the first two. I am considering reading the books I read over again in the interest of reading the series in order.

Book of the Week: Keep it in the Family

https://amzn.to/3ZfUbS9

Full Disclosure. TECHNICALLY this isn’t a “book I enjoyed this week”. I am scheduling some posts in advance and I really don’t know what I’m going to be reading and loving during the week. I want to make sure that I still have posts going up while I’m out of town and when I’m recovering from that trip!

Anyway. I chose this book because of the fact that it still lives rent free in my head. I mean it’s going on a month since I read it and I’m still reeling over the ending. There’s a chapter that’s really popular in a certain group that I used to be in, but that’s not the reason that I’m just like… I don’t know.

Also, quite frankly, the reaction to that chapter was way overdone in my opinion. That isn’t even the bombshell of the book. There are MANY MANY bombshells through the book. That just really isn’t one of them.

This book felt like reading Criminal Minds to me, but without the FBI or law enforcement at all.

Book of the Week: Fallen

https://amzn.to/3PcV6OY

This book was just too stinking cute! I was worried when I first started it that it might be a bit too cringy for me. This may be something that shocks people, but I’m not a super gushy person. I don’t swoon over romances.

Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate a romance book. Especially ones that is extremely plot driven. There are just aspects that drive me nuts. I really can’t stand a miscommunication trope. I also don’t like when there’s a certain aspect that is focused on over the plot itself. Those are my two biggest icks.

But this isn’t about my yacks on what I like and what I don’t like on romances. This is about Fallen. Somebody leaves a baby at the fire station. She is given to Lily to take care of until they can find her forever home. I’m going to leave it at that. The way that her and Zach were with this baby was just so adorable! It warmed my heart and renewed my hope in the world.

I also loved that Maddy is in this book and that she is featured in her own book in series by this author that I also enjoyed. Seriously go read this book!

Book of the Week: Lady of Dragons

I know this is not the first time I’ve mentioned this book this week. I just can’t get over how quirky the book is. There were times that I thought some cringy tropes would cause me to set the book down. I won’t lie. But I got through them. I have a favorite character in the book. I won’t say who. I will say that it’s not a human and leave it at that. I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of it! I want to see what happens!

Book of the Week: Surviving Savannah

https://amzn.to/3QUY4de

I read this book for our local book club. I had never heard of it before. I’m really glad that we chose to read it. It was a really good book that I enjoyed very much. I feel like I learned so much about an event that I’d never heard about before. I also feel like I see Savannah in a new light. The next time I go there, I will be looking for the statue referenced in this book. I really recommend this book. It’s packed with so much emotions and history. It’s rich with intensity and thought-provoking passages.

Book of the Week: The Queen’s Poisoner

https://amzn.to/45x5KXd

I really adore this book very much. There were so many characters that I just couldn’t help but to fall in love with! I have read this book three times. If that says anything. The reason that I have read it again this time around is that I want to read all of the books in this world. In order if I’m able to. I think it would be very fun and entertaining! I’m hoping to find other people who have read these books too so that we can talk about them!

Book of the Week: Red, White, & Royal Blue

https://amzn.to/3OKBpxs

I am sure that many of you know that the adaptation of this has finally come to be. I am beyond excited for it. I don’t think I’ll be watching it until next week. I’m waiting to watch it with my mom. She also read and loved the book. I first discovered the book from a Booktuber that I used to watch. I didn’t obtain it until quite a bit later. I ordered my first copy on Book of the Month. I did wind up buying a second copy from B&N. It was an exclusive edition. The cover was blue. I fell in love with it!

Have you read the book? Have you watched the movie? I want to hear your thoughts!

Book of the Week: Love Under the Stars

This is another book that I got at convention. I do not have a link at this time. The author was trying to get it pushed in time for the convention and only focused on the physical copies. The ebook will be released at a later date. This book is a continuance of her debut novel Complications of Pi. The author has also written a book called Nature’s Strike which is the first in a series. She has written many short stories in multiple anthologies. I digress.

This book focuses on two students at the college that Peyton teaches at. Peyton is the main character in Complications of Pi. She does make appearances is in this book. So does her best friend. That’s all I’m going to say about that. I really fully recommend checking this book out when it comes out. I also recommend checking out other books by this author.
