Rambling Monday: Burn Out

Topic: Burn Out

For those of you who don’t know me, I’ve been a blogger since 2013. I’ve been more active as a blogger in the latter half of that than I was in the beginning. I’ve also revamped my blog many times over the years.

Sadly, lately I just feel like posting blogs is a big chore. That’s the reason I’m choosing to retire my blog. I feel like if I feel like it’s a chore, my blogs won’t be as good. It helps that my blog membership is up next March.

I’m rambling. My point is that I feel like maybe I’m burned out on my blog. This is something that has been on my mind for months. I have noticed that I’m happier making posts on social media than I am with writing up blogs.

Anyways. My main point of this blog was to explain myself. Sometimes I think that things I do come off as impulsive. Mainly because I never really explain my thought process. I’ll put thought into something for a long time and then verbalize it. Nobody ever hears my thoughts so it comes off like I just thought it up.

I miss reading books and not being on a rigid blog and review schedule. I’m actually looking forward to doing that. I’m already kind of there. I’ve discovered that I really just can’t get into romances currently. I’ll be spending the rest of this month reading spooky and horror novels. In honor of Halloween of course. Maybe it will help.

Team I Chose: Undead

Strength: The undead ended up switching sides and helped the trick-or-treaters against the witches! If you don’t like one of the prompts, you can switch it with a prompt from another team!

Weakness: The undead are only risen on Halloween night! For the first 5 days of the readathon, you have to read only at night, and during these nights, your feet are not allowed to touch the ground!

Frightening events in a small town lead to a group of people digging up the grave of a recently deceased townsperson… but it’s empty! Read a mystery book! (15 Points)

      The Drowning Sea

I didn’t believe in ghosts until one night I was playing the piano and I heard clapping which was strange since I live alone! Then I looked up! Read A spooky book! (15 Points)

      Mr. Mercedes

An individual develops a terror of water after seeing the dead walk out of it one night! People can no longer touch, oreeven be near water! Read a book about something you personally fear. (15 Points)

Replacing this with Tricker Treaters Challenge #1: The burning rain of death has started. Read a spooky book while listening to rain sounds. My choice: Motherthing

Rambling Monday: Star’s Books and Tea is Retiring

      Topic: Retiring my Blog

I’ve put a lot of thought into this, and I thought I’d go ahead and announce it here. At the end of the year, I will be retiring my blog. Honestly, I prefer posting on social media to making blogs. I also get more interaction with social media as well.

My blog plan ends in March, so I thought that the end of the year would be a good ending point. That and I have some blog tours scheduled for October and November and I intend to keep the commitment I signed up for.

I do not mean to make it seem that I’m not grateful for all of the followers that I have. I love that you all have read my blogs. I’d love for you to follow me on my social media so that we can keep in touch! I just think it’s time for my blog to come to an end. Thank you for all your support.

      Rambling Monday: Bookish Events

      Topic: Bookish Events

By the time this posts, I’ll be heading home from Salem. This will be the third event I have attended in three months. I’m not sure if I want to do multiple events every year. IF I do, they will be more spread out than one every month.

To be fair, that wasn’t done on purpose. I was invited to an event by an author who lives in Australia so that I can order signed books by her without a heavy shipping fee. That was in Tennessee in August. I figured I could use it as an early birthday gift to myself.

Then later, I was invited to another event by an author who attends the con was going to. That was the event I’m attended this week in Salem.

Then, something came up, and mom and I were invited to got to the event that we normally go to every year in July but weren’t going to go to this year.

The first two events were very close. I feel like I barely wound down from the July one before we were heading to the August one. Luckily, there’s been quite of a gap between the August one and this one. I don’t know how people who attend tons of these events do it. Especially those that are practically back to back!

I haven’t decided if I’ll ever go to another convention or book signing again. But again, if I do, they will be better spaced apart. I won’t do the same thing I did this year! I don’t know what I was thinking! I’m an introver for crying out loud!

I’ll try to make a post about the Salem trip once I’m settled in at home. Tell me about your bookish events and experiences!

Bookish Chatter: My Thoughts on Certain Topics

As most of you know, I’m currently out of town. Before I left, I went ahead and scheduled as many blogs ahead as I could. Saturdays are always hard for me because I really can’t do my Reading Wrap-Up blog segment until the top of the day Saturday. Per me, of course. I take the data from the Saturday before to Friday.

So anyways, I thought I could put in something so I don’t lose my streak and that I’d probably want to talk about anyway. Somebody suggested that I talk about my thoughts on AI. I didn’t know how to make an entire blog about that, so I decided to add to it. I decided to give my thoughts on some topics that are on the controversial side.

Please hear me out on all of my thoughts on each. I want to explain that I am one of the types that see both sides of the equation. I will explain my reasons for feeling why I do. I also always hear feedback from others. As long as they are conversational. Anybody who feels the need to bash and attack because I don’t see it like they do will be ignored.

      So here we go.

      1. AI: There are certain aspects about this that do concern me. I don’t think that it is going to steal people’s jobs. I think that’s been a scare tactic used for many years to prevent us from advancing. But I digress. I watched a video that basically said anything you do on an AI platform can’t be copyrighted. I do disagree with that. I think if YOU did the work that. you should be able to protect others from stealing it. That being said, what if AI can benefit us? What if it gives people who aren’t as creative as they’d like to be a platform to grow? What if it broadens the art world in ways we can’t even imagine?
      2. Book Buying Bans: I don’t really care for this “trend”. I’ll leave off the fact that I feel that forcing yourself NOT to do something only makes you want to do it more. At least it’s that way for me. I get that we all have bills and other expenses. BUT I also understand that buying books also provides authors with income. Especially our indie authors. My book-buying “bans” are just when I don’t have the funding at the time to buy books. I want to point out that I am NOT bashing anybody who does these. I’m just explaining why I don’t agree with them.
      3. Reviews: There’s a thing about some authors responding to negative reviews. Or having their platform respond. It could even be that the platform is responding with no motivation behind it other than their own. I don’t agree with that behavior. I ALSO don’t agree with people using reviews to bash or bring authors down. In my opinion, reviews are meant to be constructive feedback on the book as well as your personal thoughts about the book. All constructive feedback and thoughts help the authors moving forward. Which is also why I don’t feel reviews are just for readers. Yes, it’s meant to get the reader to buy the book, but it’s also meant to help the author see where the book was strongest and where it could use some work.

That’s all I can really think of right now. I was going to try to make this a five thought post, but I really need to branch out more. The problem is once videos or posts start feeling stressful to me, I stop looking into them. I also understand that everybody has different opinions. I’m actually thankful for that. Could you imagine living in a world where we all thought and did the same thing?

What are some of your thoughts on these topics?

      Rambling Monday: Modes of Transportation

      Topic: Modes of Transportation

I feel like this would be an appropriate topic for the week considering what’s going on. On Thursday, I’ll be flying a plane for the first time in my life. Everywhere I’ve ever gone in the past has been in a car. I haven’t really traveled much in my life.

I’d love to eventually travel by train. Especially by train. I want to find a long trip to go to by train. I would love to see if it’s as peaceful as it looks. Maybe get an entire book read during my travels. Possibly one day it will happen.

Another mode I’d love to travel by is boat. I’m not as excited to try this as the train though to be honest. I’m not fully sure I’m not sea sick. I haven’t been on the water long enough to find out. I was on a gambling cruise once when I turned 21 and I did get sick, but that may have been the alcohol.

What are some ways you have traveled? Is it true that there are some people that travel on a train for daily travel? What’s that like?

What books do you have planned to read this month?

      Rambling Monday: Nesting Week

I don’t really have much to talk about this week. I’m just dealing with a lot of nerves. This is my first week of full-on calls. I’m not technically done with training yet. This week is the last week. It’s my nesting week. While I’m confident that I will do fine, I’m still a little nervous to be doing a whole day of calls. It’s been a long time since I’ve been working. I just don’t want to mess up. I’m pretty sure that I will be fantastic. I’ve already had one call graded and I made a passing grade. Something that’s rare for your first calls if I’m being honest.

I guess while I’m talking about work, I do still want to find something I can do for side cash. Maybe a service I can offer or a product I can make and sell. I keep thinking of things, but then I doubt my success of being able to do things. I’d especially love things that I can do while listening to audiobooks (or text-to-speech) while doing it. That way I can maintain reading and be productive.

I hope everybody has a fantastic week! I am pretty sure it will be amazing for me! I’m actually looking forward to moving forward to production if I’m being honest!

Rambling Monday: Hard Truths and Rereads

Going to ramble about two subjects this week. One has been heavily on my mind for a few months now. One has been a thing of mine periodically.

      Topic One:

Never take anything for granted. Things can change so quickly. I know that this is something that we constantly hear, but sometimes it doesn’t hit you until you’re struggling. I had it to where my bills were paid. The essential and nonessential ones. I was even able to gift those I cared about whenever I wanted. I was cocky. I decided I could afford to be picky with my job prospects. I threw a lot away. I wish I hadn’t done that now. I’m months behind on everything. It’s a struggle just to keep things on and buy food. I’m thankful that I have found a job, but I have a long way to go before everything is going good again. It’s been a big lesson. Another lesson has been realizing who’s really there for me and who isn’t. And you can believe that I will keep in mind who hasn’t been there for me. I may never call them on it, but I won’t ever see our relationship the same.

      Topic Two:

Rereads. I’ve recently read a book for the third time. I don’t read every single book that I read more than once. I have been known to read some again though. There are quite a few that I try to make it a point to read once a year. I haven’t read those this year, but it’s not anything that can’t be changed! I’d love to hear how other people do rereads!

Tell me of an important lesson that you have had to learn in your life? What’s a go-to reread for you?

If you enjoy my content, please consider leaving me a tip! Thank you so much for reading!

      Rambling Monday: My Birthday!!!!

So, tomorrow is my birthday! It’s something I’ve dreaded since I turned eighteen until recently. Somebody important to me went out of their way to make me see how important my birthday was and how important I am.

I normally don’t have plans. Every now and then I do. This year, I’ll be working. It’ll be my second day of training for my new job! One year, I actually did a Jurassic Park/World marathon for my birthday. That was really fun!

This year has been hard, but I am thankful to know that people love and care about me. I actually had somebody talk me into making a birthday wishlist that I wound up sharing publicly. Feel free to talk a look if you wish!

Some birthday gifts I’ve already gotten!

When is your birthday? What do you like doing on your birthday?
