I don’t really have much to talk about this week. I’m just dealing with a lot of nerves. This is my first week of full-on calls. I’m not technically done with training yet. This week is the last week. It’s my nesting week. While I’m confident that I will do fine, I’m still a little nervous to be doing a whole day of calls. It’s been a long time since I’ve been working. I just don’t want to mess up. I’m pretty sure that I will be fantastic. I’ve already had one call graded and I made a passing grade. Something that’s rare for your first calls if I’m being honest.
I guess while I’m talking about work, I do still want to find something I can do for side cash. Maybe a service I can offer or a product I can make and sell. I keep thinking of things, but then I doubt my success of being able to do things. I’d especially love things that I can do while listening to audiobooks (or text-to-speech) while doing it. That way I can maintain reading and be productive.
I hope everybody has a fantastic week! I am pretty sure it will be amazing for me! I’m actually looking forward to moving forward to production if I’m being honest!

A jaded girl. A persistent genie. A contest of souls.
Recent college graduate Dolly Jones has spent the last year stubbornly trying to atone for a mistake that cost her everything. She doesn’t go out, she doesn’t make new friends and she sure as hell doesn’t treat herself to things she hasn’t earned, but when her most recent thrift store purchase proves home to a hot, magical genie determined to draw out her darkest desires in exchange for a taste of her soul, Dolly’s restraint, and patience, will be put to the test.
Newbie genie Velis Reilhander will do anything to beat his older half-brothers in a soul-collecting contest that will determine the next heir to their family estate, even if it means coaxing desire out of the least palatable human he’s ever contracted. As a djinn from a ‘polluted’ bloodline, Velis knows what it’s like to work twice as hard as everyone else, and he won’t let anyone—not even Dolly f*cking Jones—stand in the way of his birthright. He just needs to figure out her heart’s greatest desire before his asshole brothers can get to her first.
COME TRUE: A BOMB-ASS GENIE ROMANCE is the romantic, fantastic second-coming-of-age story of two flawed twenty-somethings from different realms battling their inner demons, and each other, one wish at a time.

The first time I met Chloe Channing, my heart belonged to another woman. It was a time in my life when I was on a suicide mission and buried myself in work, picking up every assignment to keep my mind off the woman who left me with a dark soul and rage in my blood.
A couple of years later, Chloe is my new assignment. I should pass it off, but I don’t want to.
There are rules to follow. One of them, don’t mix business with pleasure. But she may be the one that will put that rule to the test.
The thing is, Chloe doesn’t remember me. Much of her memory was lost after an assailant attacked her and it’s the reason I need to protect her. But as the days pass and the façade I play as her handy man continues, it becomes increasingly difficult to deny our attraction toward each other, which could compromise everything.
If I give in to my desire, could I risk it all by letting her see the darkness inside me? The real me. And if Chloe’s memory comes back and she remembers who I am, could she still be lost to me?

Contemporary Romance, Romance Suspense and Military Romance are her most favorite genres, and loves happily ever afters… who doesn’t? Which is why she started writing in the first place. It started as a hobby. One chapter turned into ten, then a novel was born.

She hopes that her words give the reader all the ‘feels’ as it does for her when she writes about them and makes them as authentic as she possibly can.
Born and raised in the forgotten and broken kingdom of Ashbury, Elora has spent years resenting the royals of Pumpkin Hollow, the kingdom that forced the fall of Ashbury and procured the town as its own.
Separated by a mysterious glass bridge, Ashbury is treated as the orphan kingdom, left to squander and starve, with only the promise of protection from King Jasper, preventing anyone outside their realm from searching for the magic that lay within the ashy valleys and red skies.
Because twenty-five years ago, the Cinder Fae arrived. As mysterious as the magic encompassing Ashbury, the Cinder Fae bargained for their lives by promising to keep the entire realm warm with their ability to mine mountainsides into coal.
But Elora and the Cinder Fae hold a secret that could bring the end to Ashbury and the mysterious winged creatures, who, despite Elora’s best efforts to pry, refuse to share where they came from or why they can’t return.
In her desperation to prevent the downfall of her kingdom and the death of her beloved Fae, Elora drinks from an enchanted spring, convinced she can make the prince of Pumpkin Hollow fall in love with her and guarantee their safety.
But magic takes to give.
And Elora didn’t realize her heart would be the sacrifice.

Review:
I discovered this book because of our local book club. I am so grateful for that. I had never heard of this event until then. I love books that are based on things that actually happened in history. It doesn’t matter if they are fictional or nonfictional. I just love reading things historical. I wouldn’t call myself a history buff, but I can appreciate history and great stories surrounding it. Especially when it isn’t glossed over and sugar coated.
I feel like I learned a good bit about Savannah and the steam engine because of this book. I go to Savannah once a year for a book con. I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to see my stay there the same again. I don’t see that as a bad thing. I also want to go and find the statue that inspired this story. I bet it’s a beautiful statue. I’d love to learn more about the woman the statue represents.
The event took place in 1838. The book goes back and forth from that time period to present day. It covers three women’s points of view. Each of them have their own story to tell. They are all beautiful and powerful stories that are filled with sorrow and triumph. I connected so well with Everly. I felt her pain and I understood her. My favorite character was Augusta. She was just such an inspiration! I’m glad I read this book!

I’ve had this on my list to read for quite a bit. I’m finally getting around to reading it. We read the book for book club a few months back. So I know many details about the book because of the meeting. I just had a lot on my schedule and didn’t get to read it in time. I’m excited to finally read it!
We can’t choose what we inherit. But can we choose who we become?
In present-day California, Eleanor Bennett’s death leaves behind a puzzling inheritance for her two children, Byron and Benny: a black cake, made from a family recipe with a long history, and a voice recording. In her message, Eleanor shares a tumultuous story about a headstrong young swimmer who escapes her island home under suspicion of murder. The heartbreaking tale Eleanor unfolds, the secrets she still holds back, and the mystery of a long-lost child challenge everything the siblings thought they knew about their lineage and themselves.
Can Byron and Benny reclaim their once-close relationship, piece together Eleanor’s true history, and fulfill her final request to “share the black cake when the time is right”? Will their mother’s revelations bring them back together or leave them feeling more lost than ever?
Charmaine Wilkerson’s debut novel is a story of how the inheritance of betrayals, secrets, memories, and even names can shape relationships and history. Deeply evocative and beautifully written, Black Cake is an extraordinary journey through the life of a family changed forever by the choices of its matriarch.

Owen’s family has done the unthinkable. They decide to betray the king. In doing so, their oldest son is killed for treason. If that wasn’t bad enough, they are forced to give Owen to the king as his next hostage. While in the castle, he learns many dark secrets. He also learned that he had many in the castle who would do anything to protect him and keep him alive no matter what.
I really adored this book. I can’t say that I was entranced from the very beginning. To do so would be a lie. It did take me awhile to get through. I’m glad I stuck with it. I adored this book. I adored the characters! I can hardly wait to dig into the next book. I may do so after this review!
The narrator as well! Wow she’s amazing. I know I harp on a lot of narrators, but the ones who catch my attention really deserve it. And she really caught my attention. If I’m being honest, I think she’s the reason I mainly decided to stick with this book when I found it a bit dull.
I fully recommend this book! It’s a book full of fantasy. Plus it takes place surrounded by nobility. So there’s that as well. Anyways, I’d stick with it at least a couple chapters. It may have a slow start, but it’s worth it to keep on reading!

I was thinking that I had a slow week. Then I saw this and I’m kind of shocked at exactly how much progress I made during the week! To be fair, I have been working all week! It’s been a great work week at that!
My Activity This Week:
I’ve decided that I’m going to start sharing the screenshots of the progress for the week rather than writing it all out. It will share a bit more insights, and honestly, I think it looks a lot neater as well. I’ll talk about how I feel about the progress too.
I’d love to hear about your week of reading!

Review:
I’m not going to lie. I was very nervous going into this book. I didn’t love the most recent two books that were published by the author. I mean I didn’t really hate them. They just weren’t really as interesting to me as some of his others. We all have our favorites and not so favorites when it comes to authors we love. Seeing some posts and reviews about this book before I got around to it didn’t really help that nervousness.
Luckily, I found myself pleasantly surprised. I wouldn’t say it was as wonderful as some of his first books, but it was pretty great. His first books really threw me through the loop. I expected one thing and got another. Predictability wise, this book was a little of both. I was able to predict some parts of the books, but not others. And there were some things that I predicted that were both right and wrong!
I’m really glad that my fears were wrong. I have been into this author since I very first discovered him. I love books that can give me surprises. Most of the time, I’m able to pretty much guess what happens way ahead of time. Don’t get me wrong. I love ALL types of thrillers and horrors despite being able to predict them. I am just saying that I appreciate one that throws me through loops more.
I can’t wait to see other books written by this author. I’d love to see him come out with a series! I’d buy every single book without needing to know anything about it. Eh, let’s be honest. I probably already do that with his books anyways. I’d love to meet him at a signing one day.
